Important Reminders

Make sure you have your name card/reader card with you.

Reader cards are distributed by each school/college. Please refer to your dean’s office for this process.

  • The reader card is used by the reader/announcer as you walk across the stage. It is the only way anyone will know who you are. Graduate’s names are NOT read from a list.

Don’t forget to return your gown after your ceremony.

  • There will be a covered truck and/or boxes for depositing your caps and gowns as you exit the ceremony facility

Student Seating Locations for Convocation

Commencement Seating

Students sit during convocation with their college/school peers. Please report to your degree program location no later than 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019.

Inclement Weather

In case of rain, excessive wind and/or excessive heat, the morning Convocation ceremony will be moved to the Pavilion. (If the weather is threatening, a decision on moving the ceremony indoors will be made by 8:00 a.m. and announced through media outlets and the UM website.
