Week of Commencement Reminders

Make sure you have your name card/reader card with you.

Reader cards are distributed by each school/college. Please refer to your dean’s office for this process.

  • The reader card is used by the reader/announcer as you walk across the stage. It is the only way anyone will know who you are. Graduate’s names are NOT read from a list.

Don’t forget to return your gown after your ceremony.

  • There will be a covered truck and/or boxes for depositing your caps and gowns as you exit the ceremony facility

Pick up your cap and gown.

The week of Commencement, the Vendor for cap and gowns will observe the following hours:

  • Wednesday, May 10, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum
  • Thursday, May 11, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum
  • Friday, May 12, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum
  • Saturday, May 13, 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the Ole Miss Bookstore at the Jackson Avenue Center

If you have not already ordered your cap and gown, please see the vendor as early as possible on May 10.  

If you are graduating with Latin Honors: summa cum laude, magna cum laude or cum laude, your academic college/school will have your honors cords. Please pick them up from your academic college/school. If unsure where to pick up items from your academic college/school, contact the Dean’s Office. 

Student Seating Locations for Convocation

Students sit during convocation with their college/school peers. Please report to the location indicated below for your degree program no later than 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017.

Inclement Weather

In case of rain, excessive wind and/or excessive heat, the morning Convocation ceremony will be moved to the Pavilion. (If the weather is threatening, a decision on moving the ceremony indoors will be made by 8:00 a.m. and announced through media outlets and the UM website.

Schedule and Rain Locations

These locations are tentative depending on inclement weather.  If locations are to change, the decision will be announced by 8 a.m. the morning of the ceremony.

Inclement Weather – 5:00 p.m. – Archie and Olivia Manning Athletics Performance Center

School of Engineering

Inclement Weather – Ceremony will he held in two parts – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – The Gertrude Castellow Ford Center for the Performing Arts
